Chemical plant explosion, Jilin, China, 2005

A series of massive explosions at the Jilin chemical plant due to an unfixed chemical blockage caused human deaths and injured many. The slick of pollutants spilled into the nearby Songhua river made water from the river toxic to drink, requiring cities to be evacuated or shut down it’s water supplies.
