The creation of pressurized liquid fracked wells for gas and oil uses many chemicals of which the long lasting effects are unknown. The leaking of chemicals to the surface contaminates ground soil and water. Cases of radioactivity have also been found. More than half of the fractured wells worldwide are located in the United States.
