Running aground on a reef due to an unrepaired radar, the Exxon Valdez tanker spilled large amounts of oil in Prince William Sound, Alaska. The spill caused the collapse of the local marine population, increase of wildlife deaths and left lasting effects not expected to recover in thirty years.
