Oil Spill (drilling rig), Gulf of Mexico, 2010

Sinking after an explosion, the Deepwater Horizon oil rig caused a sea-floor drill site to continue flowing for 87 days. The spill and cleanup chemicals caused a total destabilization of the ecosystem in the gulf, also creating many oxygen deprived zones in the sea where there is no marine life possible.
